Artist's Statement:

It had been fifteen years since I last work at Tamarind, and knowing the changes that occurred in my painting in that time, I was curious to see what would result from the collaborative process of lithography. Consultation with the printers led to the use of toner, a very fine black powder that responds to the slightest touch, vibration or breath, and becomes fixed only with heat. This medium allowed an easy shifting and reworking of the image using a variety of tools. The patient and hardworking Tamarind staff enabled me to create two prints which are a good complement to the large painting I was working on at the same time.

The titles of these particular prints are names of small villages in Ireland. My longstanding interests in rock art, Paleolithic painting and standing stones have occasioned a number of site visits; Rylane and Reenkilla are two of those sites.
