Alecos FassianosGreece, 1935 - 2022

Alecos Fassianos was born in Athens in 1935. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Professor Moralis (1956-1960). A French government scholarship enabled him to study lithography in Paris (1960-1963). His work has been widely exhibited in Greece and abroad. He has also produced sets and costume designs for the theatre, as well as illustrations for various books and publications. Fasianos lives and works in Athens and Paris, epicenters of the ancient and modern art worlds. He combines ancient myth with modern situations. His work is mainly filled with heroic characters and allegory, combining ancient myth with modern situations. Motion is present in every image, usually hair or cloth waving in the breeze. The figures are often posed in a salute or signaling to the viewer either a forthcoming or an already-won victory. They recall a mundane truth of daily situations.
