Charissa Daniella Iradukunda
Charissa and photography is a love story. The young woman discovered a passion for photography in 2016 as a computer and telecommunications student at ITELETIQUE. Wanting to become a photographer at all costs, this young woman encountered obstacles in her path. “I was in my first year, and we were taught photography. Only, it was not done thoroughly for us girls because no one thought that we would ever get to the end. Despite that, I didn't stop because I felt that photography was what I wanted to do. I asked photographers to let me to accompany them in their sessions, but they refused.”Discouraged by some of her peers, she persevered, her efforts paid off, and she was able to enter the profession against all odds. “There were photographers who told me that I couldn't do it because I was a girl and, in the field, I couldn't handle the conditions under which photographers work. But even if they said all this, they already considered me a photographer, "she said.Charissa developed her own vision of photography - for her, it's a matter of passion and the way to express her point of view: “Photography is a beautiful thing. Both easy and difficult. We don't all see things the same way, and sometimes it feels like you've wasted time on a shoot. But, from the moment you find satisfaction in taking a photo, that's enough, ”says the photographer, for whom her condition as a woman gives her a better vision than that of men in terms of perspective and color perception.Text: © 2020, Moïse MAZYAMBO
