Mohamed MandourEgyptian, born 1950
Mohamed Mandour is considered the icon of modern pottery in the Middle East.
Born in 1950 in Al-Fustat, the oldest settlement in Cairo with a long-standing pottery-making tradition, he worked in clay since childhood. Mandour is best known for vessels with the smooth, fluid forms whose surface decoration is inspired by the Pharaonic and Islamic designs.
