BiographySonco Carrasco was born in Acomayo, Cusco, Peru in 1955. He moved to the city of Arequipa at an early age and lived there until he was a teenager. The charm of Arequipena’s countryside combined with the light and the atmosphere of this magical place were a strong influence upon his passion for landscape. This influence is reflected through the painstakingly perfected watercolor technique in his art, which received the recognition of his country as well as other countries in the continent. He has also been working on the oil technique within the same landscape theme and its main characteristic is related to light and transparency. He currently resides in Lima where he continues to work on his art, giving priority to the oil technique. Throughout his career he has been honored with a significant amount of awards amongst which the most important one was the National Prize of Watercolors Award in 1984 presented by the North-American Peruvian Cultural Institute. He has also had his work exhibited at numerous private and collective exhibitions in both Peru and abroad.
