Koshal Hamal

Nepal, 1988
BiographyI was born in 1988 in Mugu, Nepal. Art was my passion since my childhood. My mother and sister’s encouragement gave me extra energy to develop my works, and landed in Art field professionally in 2003. I received my Intermediate Degree in Fine Arts from Tribhuvan University in 2006, and received BFA (with a distinction award) from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore (2011) on a SAF Madanjeet Singh Art Scholarship. My work was awarded as one of the best awards for young artists by Lahore Art Council in 2012. My graduating exhibition was reviewed by International, The News: “The star of the show is a Nepalese artist Koshal Hamal. […] His paintings examine complicated concepts; however, Koshal does not reduce the significance of the form. Instead, his visually compelling technique is a kind of foil for heavy ideas. It’s a powerful trait found in the most interesting art made in Pakistan.”
My works have been selected in several South Asian art exhibitions nationally and internationally including New Selections: South Asia, Thomas Erben Gallery, New York (2012) Currently, I live and work in Lahore, Pakistan.
