Clayton Pond
United States of America (USA), 1941
Clayton Pond has been making art for over forty years. He was even artistically active as a child growing up in Port Washington, NY. After getting his graduate degree in studio art at Pratt Institute, Clayton moved to SoHo in the late sixties, where he lived for twenty-six years. His work was featured at the Martha Jackson gallery, among others. His work is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian. His work is well-recognized for its confident colors, symmetry, and colloquial subject matter mixed with humorous messages. Clayton's sense of humor comes across in most of his work. He moved to Georgia with his family in the 1990s. Since the year 2000, Clayton has begun focusing on 3-d pieces, made of wood and layered for a fantastic visual effect.
