BiographyMaricruz Arribas is an avid explorer of the world around her in search of data, materials and ideas to transform into works of art. She is inspired by the materiality of the intangible, or the way the nature of things and the passing of time are reflected in objects of everyday use. Therefore, the passion for collecting objects and their reuse is an integral part of her art practice. In the hands of Maricruz, the objects never lose their identity; on the contrary, in her wonderful creative process they enrich themselves with new connotations.Peru’s rich cultural heritage—folklore, iconography, and rituals—are a constant source of inspiration for Maricruz. Freely combining the contemporary with the pre-Columbian, the coastal with the Andean, and the traditional with the profane, she allows her imagination and chance to collaborate to create works with Peruvian identity and her own unique style.
