BiographyHe holds a law degree from the University of Dakar and has practiced civil, human rights, and international law in Senegal, other African countries, at the UN and in the US since 1981.
The totality of his experiences as a lawyer, an internationalist and as a patron of the arts have inspired his creative muse his output and his prolific body of works as a self-taught collagist and abstract artist.
Diokhane’s work was recently featured in the Diversity Project, a highly competitive selection of 200 Brooklyn artists under the auspices of the Rush Philanthropic Art Foundation, whose works were displayed in 16 different Brooklyn galleries. His photographic work, a skill he has developed during an 18-month curatorship at Spike Lee’s 40 Acres which ended in early 2005 has been used in Gary Leva’s documentary “By Any Means Necessary. The Making of Malcolm X, ” a Warner home Video.
His canvasses are topically encyclopedic, drawing on the variety of themes that embrace the human and divine comedy that is known as life. Diokhane is also a filmmaker, writer and lecturer who speaks frequently on African arts, culture and politics. His paintings are currently on display at Brooklyn’s Le Dakar Restaurant, where Chef extraordinaire Pierre Thiam bridges the gaps through food, music and art.
