BiographyFlorencia Blanco Cutuk was born in Montpelier, France, in 1971 but her family emigrated to Bahía Blanca in the province of Buenos Aires that same year. They subsequently moved to Pedro Luro, also in Buenos Aires before settling in Salta. From 1989 onwards, Florencia has been travelling back and forth from Salta to Buenos Aires where she is living and working at present. Florencia took a course on Image and Sound Design at the University of Buenos Aires and attended the photography workshop held by Juan Travnik. She has been producing photo-reportages since 1997 and regularly holds exhibitions both in Argentina and abroad. Her collections include series such as Salteños, Quinceañeras, Aproximación, Fotos al óleo and Hogar. Florencia has been awarded a number of grants and prizes, including: the Grand Prize of the Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires 2009, Best Portfolio Prize at the Open Photography Meetings (Encuentros Abiertos de Fotografía) in Buenos Aires (2008 and 2000); the Latin America Prize 2002 from the Fifty Crows International Fund for Documentary Photography, San Francisco, SA; the Programa Trama award from the Espigas Foundation (2001) for her essay Quinceañeras; a Subsidy for Artistic Creation from the Antorchas Foundation (2000) and the National Award from the National Arts Fund (2000). Since 1995 she has been working in film, particularly in feature-length works such as El pasado, El otro, Fantasma, El custodio, Diario Argentino, La guerra de los gimnasios, Camisea, Familia rodante, Tres minutos, El bonaerense, La niña santa, La ciénaga, Ciudad de María, Garage Olimpo and La cruz. Her works are included in the collections belonging to the Modern Art Museum (Museo de Arte Moderno ) in Buenos Aires, the Castagnino Macro Museum in Rosario and the Rabo Bank. The series “Salteños” was published by Editorial Fotógrafos Argentinos.
