BiographyPainter, engraver and art historian, Yuri Luykshin is one of the classics of the St. Petersburg school of graphic arts. He is an illustrator for the Redkaya kniga iz Sankt-Peterburga (Rare Book of Saint-Petersburg) publishers, founder and instructor of the Paints of Good children’s educational center. A deeply national artist, Luykshin has developed his original style that draws on the traditions of icon painting, Russian popular prints and folk art. Among his favorite topics are important events in Russian history. Through their lens, the artist reveals the beauty and contradictions of the Russian soul.
