BiographyBorn in Arta, in 1916. He settled permanently in Athens in 1927. He graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 1936. He then moved to Rome and Paris on a scholarship by the Academy of Athens. In Paris he studied painting and the art of fresco at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts, as well as mosaic at the Ecole des Arts et Métiers. In 1947 he was elected Professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where he remained until 1983. He has illustrated books by Odysseas Elytis, Giorgos Seferis etc., created murals and etchings in a variety of media, designed sets and costumes for the National Theatre of Greece, the Karolos Koun Art Theatre and the Greek Chorodrama. His paintings belong in public and private collections in Greece and abroad.
