BiographyGopal Das Shrestha (Kalapremi) an award winning Kathmandu based sculptor. He received his Bachelor's in Fine Art from Tribhuvan University. His specialization is in ceramics. He has exhibited widely and participated in several exhibitions, workshops and residencies in Nepal and abroad. He has 10 solo exhibitions to his credit and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. Kalapremi received a Consolation Prize in the National Exhibition of Art and Craft NAFA - 1985, First Prize in Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture, National Exhibition of Art and Craft NAFA - 1996, Second Prize in Contemporary Sculpture Rangalal Bangdel Art exhibition - 1999, Arniko Art Award & Gold Medal in Contemporary Sculpture - 2000, Special Award Contemporary Sculpture National Exhibition of Art and Craft NAFA - 2005. He has authored several books that include Ceramic, Clay Art, Science & Psychology and Sculpture Techniques. He is a Lecturer in Fine Art Ceramic at Kathmandu University's Center for Art and Design and has also lectured at Jeonju University, South Korea and in Pakistan. He is the Founder of Gokem Art Ceramic Studio, Founder Member of Nepal Ceramic Corporation Society, Member of Floriculture Association Nepal, Member of Artist's Society of Nepal.
